Premier was founded on a single vision; to do things properly and place our clients at the heart of our business.  In doing so we not only wanted to improve the standards of service our clients receive but also set a new benchmark in the market for quality and service.  Although our ambitions are focused on the future, our operation is firmly based on experience.

June 2003

Premier was founded by Dai Smith (Executive Chairman), supported by Joanne Williams (Director) and Mo Simpson (Personal Assistant).  Premier was initially started as a Consulting business with a focus on providing support to small and medium sized pension schemes.

November 2003

The Company was relocated to new offices following rapid expansion and the recruitment of senior consultants who were attracted by Premier’s vision for client service.

June 2005

In response to client demand Third Party Administration Services were introduced as a new service line.  The Directors quickly recognised that there was a gap in the market for a truly first class administration offering.

September 2005

Paul Couchman joins from Mercer as Sales and Marketing Director.

December 2005

A joint venture for the provision of Actuarial Services is established.

January 2006

Dai Smith becomes Executive Chairman and Paul Couchman is appointed Managing Director. 

Due to the continued expansion of the business additional office space is acquired.

January 2007

Premier Benefit Solutions, our Regulated business is established with Ian Gutteridge and Martin Thompson joining as Directors.

Due to continued expansion Premier establishes its Actuarial Services business allowing the organisation to provide fully managed trustee services and actuarial advice to employers.

September 2007

A new regional Consulting office in Bristol is established to help develop and grow Premier’s south west England client pool.

February 2007

Premier Wealth Planning, Premier’s bespoke financial planning and wealth management service to individuals is established.

June 2009

Head Office is relocated to new offices following sustained expansion across all service lines.

November 2010

A new commercial agreement with Gatemore Capital Management LLP for the provision of investment consulting services is agreed.

March 2014

Head office is relocated to new offices following sustained expansion across all service lines.

May 2014

Bristol regional office is relocated to new offices following expansion of our private wealth business.
